🤖 Client Discoverability Update (AEO/SEO): JSON-LD Schema & llms.txt
What's New
JSON-LD Schema Update — Popmenu restaurant pages now generate richer, more accurate structured data automatically. This schema is now mapped directly to a restaurant's General and Location settings in my.popmenu, so the more complete that profile info is, the stronger and more detailed the schema output.
llms.txt Files — Every Popmenu restaurant site now includes an
llms.txtfile, a standard AI crawlers use to understand what's on the site and how to reference it accurately.
Why It Matters
Search engines and AI assistants can only surface a restaurant correctly if they can actually understand what it is, what it offers, and where it's located. Historically that meant relying on us to infer that from unstructured page text, which is inconsistent at best. This closes that gap: structured data now comes straight from information the client already provides, updates automatically, and is readable by both classic search crawlers and the newer AI crawlers now driving a growing share of restaurant discovery.
How Does This Improve Client Website Discoverability (SEO/AEO)
Structured data (schema) tells search engines and AI assistants exactly what a business offers, where it's located, and how to find it, instead of them guessing from page content.
This makes restaurants more likely to be surfaced accurately in both traditional search results and AI-generated answers (AEO).
llms.txtgives AI tools a direct, standardized reference point for the site, improving how accurately AI assistants describe and recommend the business.
Good to Know: this schema pulls from the 'General' and 'Location' settings in my.popmenu, so completing these profile areas = stronger, more robust schema. For this reason, we recommend clients finish their profile setup.
